Grade 9 Biology Unit 1: Introduction to Biology

Chapter 1.4 – Tools of a Biologist

1.4.1 Laboratory Tools:

• Hand lens, test tubes, beakers, microscope, and safe handling.

1.4.2 Field Tools:

• Collecting nets, sample jars, plant presses for studying nature outside the lab.

Chapter 1.5 – Handling and using of light Microscope

1.5.1 Parts and function of light microscope

• Name and describe the function of each microscope part.

1.5.2 Handling and using microscope

• Step-by-step guide to focusing, adjusting light, and observing safely.

Chapter 1.6 – General Laboratory Safety Rules

• Handling chemicals safely.
• Correct use of lab equipment.
• Emergency procedures for accidents.
